Young STEM in Ratnapura District

STEM – Kalvi அனுசரணையில் இரத்தினபுரி Young-STEM குழுவினரால் நேற்றைய தினம் (24.06.2023) இறக்குவானை செண்ட் ஜோன்ஸ் தமிழ்க் கல்லூரியில் உயர்தரம் கற்க இருக்கும் மாணவர்களுக்கான தொழில் வழிகாட்டல் விழிப்புணர்வுக்கருத்தரங்கு நடாத்தப்பட்டது.

 

இதில் STEM – Kalvi யின் பணிப்பாளர்களான Dr நவா, Dr. நிஷாந்தன், Dr Ganesan ஆகியோர் zoom ஊடாகவும் திரு தயாளன் (ISA), திரு கமலேஸ்வரன் (அதிபர்), திரு ரகுப்பிரியன் (Young-STEM), திரு விவேக் (Young-STEM) நேரடியாகவும் பங்கு பற்றினர்.

Young-STEM குழுவின் தலைவர் ரகுப்பிரியனால் அனுப்பப்பட்ட முழுமையான அறிக்கை ஆங்கிலத்தில் கீழே.

To raise awareness about G.C.E. (A/L) and the career opportunities thereafter, a session was organized by Young STEM Ratnapura along with STEM – Kalvi charity. The event was held at St. Johns Tamil College, Rakwana on 24.06.2023.

The event started at 11 am with a welcome speech by the school principal, Mr. P. Kamaleshwaran. Next, the founder of STEM Kalvi charity, Dr. Kumaravelu Ganeshan, delivered a speech introducing STEM and encouraging students to pursue careers in this field. Following that, one of the directors of STEM – Kalvi charity, Dr. Nishanthan, gave a speech about STEM and discussed future prospects based on SWOT analysis.

Afterward, the Director of STEM – Kalvi charity, Dr. Navaratnarajah, shared his life experiences with the students and emphasized the importance of STEM education in our society. Then, Mr. Dayalan, the Maths ISA for Embilipitiya zone, delivered a speech highlighting the benefits of pursuing a career in the STEM field and encouraged students to utilize resources efficiently.

Next, STEM volunteer Mr. Raghupriyan engaged in a discussion with students about the development of the modern world and the vast career opportunities available in STEM. He also provided advice on subject selection and student life, primarily focusing on the AL Science stream. Another volunteer, Mr. Vivek, shared his life experiences and discussed the facts about the Technology stream and university entrance opportunities.

Following that, a brief and friendly discussion was held with students to inquire about their ideas and interests. The volunteers answered their questions regarding career development and helped them make informed decisions. The event concluded successfully at 3:30 pm. As positive feedback, 20-25 students expressed their interest in continuing their A/L studies in the Science and Technological streams.
